My first effort - last Christmas - was in TinkerCAD and getting the curved lettering was something of a nightmare. Instead I turned my attention to headboards. where next? I mentioned strapping but I haven't had a play with that yet. Alas the Customizer still seems to be broken as far as I can see, so for now you still need to download OpenSCAD to render an STL file. I have now posted the wheels code up on Thingiverse (and it's only taken me 8 months to get round to it). scad file to a local copy of the program anyway so you might as well just copy and paste. In theory you can access all the Customizer stuff on there as a web form and then download an STL directly - in practice I've always found this functionality is broken and you need to download the. chars = "3.I'll also put the OpenSCAD file up on Thingiverse in due course as CC-BY-NC-SA. We can get the tangent value from the above figure, so the tilted angle is atan((font size + line width) / circumference). We add a short line on the top of each character. The model will have too many facets so that rendering will take a long time, and the size of the exported file will be large. As mentioned in 3D line, one of the solutions is using small and intensive cubes on the path of the spiral.īut, even it looks like a spiral, it still consists of cubes. ![]() We have to add a spiral to connect characters. ![]() Yes, a disconnected character is not printable. Here, for simplification, the characters of a circle is a constant number 40, and the radius is 40mm because it's almost a pen holder's radius. You can modify the code if necessary, right? I'm very casual about parameters, sometimes determined by future printing requirements. As for me, I just want to verify my thoughts through modeling. If they are normal users, they might be confused by too many options. ![]() If your target users are designers or developers, they may want all these versions. Calculating the font size from radius and number_of_characters is also considerable. You might also provide number_of_characters and font_size, and then calculate the circle radius. Maybe you provide radius and font_size, then calculate the number of characters of a circle automatically. The first of all is determining what parameters users can use. If you know how to wrap text around a circle, introduced in Text and circle, it's not hard to wrap text around a cylinder. The text in the above picture comes from Top 20 Replies by Programmers When Their Programs Don’t Work. To accomplish this, the pattern uses interfaces or base classes. First of all you do not create objects directly you just describe how they look like. IoC is a principle, whereas DI is an actual implementation of the principle.ĭI is a software design pattern that allows removing hard-coded dependencies. “Dependency Injection” is a subset of “Inversion of Control”. In this case the output class subscribes to the calculation result event and the calculator subscribes to the input event. As we are discussing inversion, let’s decouple the classes and implement events. The input class calls the calculation class, which in turn calls the output class. The same applies to the output, which can only run if the calculation was successful. That analysis class can only function properly if the required text file does exist. Let’s say you want to run an analysis of a text file. The structure of a program is: Input, Calculations, Output. For instance it replaces all specific interface declarations by fully instantiated classes without the need to explicitly call any initialization. This container performs binding between components. To simplify the matter we can call a Unit圜ontainer a dictionary of objects with some additional methods. We have come across containers in my C++ posts. The C++ world calls containers what C# calls collections. The expression “container” is rarely used in C#. A container can be used to control classes and change the bindings. The control can now be taken over by external factors. Let’s say a perfect class is blind and urgently needs a guide dog. Hence it is an inversion of control.īy using IoC classes become more encapsulated. The class, which is providing the event, should not have any active control over subscriptions. ![]() The subscribing class can subscribe or unsubscribe. ![]() The subscribing class is in control of the program flow, not the class that raises the event. The class, which is raising an event, hands the control over to another class. By using interfaces you can decouple theses flows, so that at the time of creation the class does not exactly know what instructions to call next. Why the name “Inversion of Control”? (IoC)Īn entirely hardcoded class controls the program execution path. When you get lost then you should do it at least properly and at full steam □ Well, I finally understood the headline … and the world started making sense again. This blocked all and I ended up pretty much blank despite nearly an hour of pumping information into my head. I tried to figure out, what the inversion was. When I did the same a few weeks ago I did not understand a lot. I finally had some time and spent some hours on Inversion of Control (IoC) and Dependency Injection (DI). 12/29/2023 0 Comments Opencl benchmark![]() I'm sure you're thinking "yeah obviously a lower-end GPU will perform worse" but perhaps not in the way you're thinking. Again, even the same program with different workloads will yield different winners, but also, performance can vary substantially between performance tiers or pro-grade models. A single benchmark, including a real-world use case, is inconclusive. That's why I was reminded of having seen such indications in the past, that AMD cards don't pull their weight in these applications, due to poor driver support.ĪMD has some catching up to do with Vulkan but like I said, performance varies drastically with OpenCL. They're now in the same camp as AMD, and it seems like Intel is making an effort to improve non-CUDA compute.Ĭan 3060 Ti beat 6800 in raw power in Vulkan and barely lose in OpenCl? That seems unlikely. Their OpenCL performance was fine for what the chips were, but still not noteworthy. Intel never really cared that much about compute because their GPUs were too weak to be worthwhile. Even if their performance is worse, being compatible is more important. That's the only way they can convince people to switch. Key word is "can" though - if they truly want to succeed, they will need to adopt CUDA. If AMD plays their cards right, I believe they can compete with Nvidia faster than Intel can compete in the gaming market. The good news is, they actually have a chance to catch up - AMD's hardware is fine, they already have their toes in the GPU server market, and compute is a lot easier to optimize for than games. They're basically playing catch up with Nvidia at this point. As a result, they've been working on ROCm and HIP. In the past 3 years or so, AMD has realized how much money they've been losing out on in the server GPU market. CUDA is so much better that many open-source developers use it despite the fact it requires closed-source binaries to work. CUDA is also significantly easier to implement. They wrote most of the libraries themselves. Nvidia really optimized CUDA for their platform. The reason why they're never chosen is because they lack CUDA, which not only limits what they can do but CUDA is also just so much better. AMD has actually been very competitive in OpenCL pretty much since TeraScale2 and they've done practically nothing to optimize until maybe a year ago. Overall it seems that Intel's best and mot fast GPU A770 seems to switch places with the RTX 3060 in both tests at best (table courtesy videocardz).Īren't AMD's drivers always considered the reason for AMD underperfoming in these kind of workloads? I haven't yet heard anyone praising the Intel graphics card drivers, so it ought to be unknown how optimised they are throughout the whole spectrum of stuff a GPU can be put through. In the OpenCL test, the difference between the A770 and the A750 is again around 12%, which is in favor of the full ACM-G10 model. This is a difference of 10.4% between the two cards. The A76 points on the Vulkan test, while the A750 only got 66609 points. Both cards have been seen on the Geekbench website in an ASUS ROG Z690 Apex & Core i9-12900KS system with both cards installed. It was tested with the A750, which has 448 Vector Engines and 8 GB of VRAM (3584 FP32 cores). The A770 tested is the Limited Edition with all 512 Xe Vector Engines and 16GB of VRAM (or 4096 FP32 cores). Only the first GPU could hint at its actual performance, which may or may not translate to raw gaming power, videocardz noticed. ![]() Two graphics APIs, Vulkan and OpenCL, were used to test both cards. Untreated or poorly treated psychosis almost always requires hospital admission until the voices lose their commanding power. Psychosis, too, is treatable, and usually must be treated for a schizophrenic to be able to function at all. Schizophrenics are just as likely to talk freely about the voices commanding them to kill themselves as not, and also, in my experience, give honest answers about thoughts of suicide when asked directly. The worldwide incidence of schizophrenia is 1 percent and often strikes otherwise healthy, high-performing individuals, whose lives, though manageable with medication, are often derailed from their original promise. Psychosis is much harder to mask than depression, and is arguably even more tragic. Malevolent inner voices often command self-destruction for unintelligible reasons. If you suspect someone might be depressed, don't allow your tendency to deny the possibility of suicidal ideation prevent you from asking about it. Despite making both parties uncomfortable, inquiring directly about suicidal thoughts, in my experience, almost always yields an honest response. Often, people suffer with it silently, planning suicide without anyone ever knowing. Because depression, as we all know, is almost always treatable, we should all seek to recognize its presence in our close friends and loved ones. They shouldn't be blamed for falling prey to such distorted thoughts any more than a heart patient should be blamed for experiencing chest pain it's simply the nature of their disease. The state of depression warps their thinking, allowing ideas like, "Everyone would all be better off without me" to make rational sense. The pain of existence often becomes too much for severely depressed people to bear. Severe depression is almost always accompanied by a pervasive sense of suffering as well as the belief that escape from it is hopeless. This is, without question, the most common reason people die by suicide. But any life-upsetting blow can set a vulnerable individual on a self-destructive course. In general, people try to kill themselves for six reasons: In fact, the overwhelming majority of people who experience one or more of these circumstances don't commit suicide and it's impossible to predict who will. None of these circumstances necessarily lead to suicide. exposure to the suicidal behaviors of others, such as friends, peers, or celebrities.an illness or medication that triggers a change in mood.a personal crisis or life stress, especially one that increases a sense of isolation or leads to a loss of self-esteem, such as a separation or divorce.loss of social support, for example, because of a move or when a close friend relocates.a significant loss, such as the death of a spouse or the loss of a job.an episode of depression, psychosis, or anxiety. Many suicides are impulsive.Ī number of factors can put an individual at a higher risk for suicide in the short term. Sometimes it's carried out under the sway of a highly distorted or psychotic idea. Suicide may stem from intense feelings of anger, despair, hopelessness, or panic. Most people who commit suicide are depressed, but what triggers this irrevocable step varies from person to person. |
